Notice .. Automated Speed Enforcement Program .. UPDATED .. The Town of Chesapeake Beach Maryland has established an Automated Speed Enforcement Program. This Program includes the use of a speed monitoring system which monitors vehicles in violation of Maryland law TA 21-809, which covers speed violations in designated school zones.  Chesapeake Beach began operation of its Automated Speed Enforcement Program with a 30-day warning period that started Friday, February 10th, 2012.  The location of the Speed Enforcement System is within the School Zone associated with Beach Elementary School on Maryland State Highway 261.  In accordance with State Law, beginning on Monday, March 12th, 2012, Chesapeake Beach will issue $40.00 civil citations to vehicles that exceed the posted speed limit by twelve (12) miles per hour or more.

The recent Holiday Parade on December 3rd in North Beach is being broadcast at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm daily on Comcast Channel 6 in the Twin Beaches. The parade was recorded for broadcast by students at Northern High School.  If you are a Comcast Television subscriber but do not receive the Town of Chesapeake Beach or the Town of North Beach broadcast on Channel 6, please send an email to joe_miller2@cable.comcast.com and include your last name and specific address where your television is hooked up.   Comcast will remotely re-program your Channel 6 content from Calvert County to the Twin Beaches.  It is seamless and there is no charge for this service.

Calvert County to explore Redistricting (the process of changing the boundaries of election Districts)  -- The redistricting process will determine the boundaries of Calvert County Commissioner Election Districts, so public participation is critical.  Everyone living in Calvert County has a stake in the outcome. Public Service Announcement from Project Echo --  The pantry at Project Echo homeless shelter is bare. Paper products have been depleted due to the recent emergencies we have experienced in Calvert County. If you can donate paper products for this very worthy cause, please drop items off at Town Hall. The shelter really needs our help.

Chesapeake Beach receives a Banner City Award from the Maryland Municipal League (MML) for 2011. The MML annually awards designations of Banner City/Town to those cities and towns that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to MML programs and activities through the involvement of their elected and appointed officials during the past year.   The Banner City/Town designation is MML’s highest city/town member achievement award. The program is designed to encourage and reward exceptional participation in MML programs and activities and to foster teamwork among municipal officials to achieve program criteria. It is meant to be a challenge that requires foresight and commitment from the municipality.
